Abstract: This paper examines how travel contributes to personalgrowth across four key dimensions: self-confidence, cultural awareness,problem-solving ability, and creativity. Using a systematic literaturereview methodology, peer-reviewed studies in psychology, tourismscience, and cross-cultural communication are synthesised and criticallyevaluated. The findings indicate that travel — particularly internationaltravel involving substantive cultural engagement — functions as apowerful developmental context that produces measurable and oftenlasting psychological change. These benefits are neither incidental noruniversal; rather, they arise from specific experiential conditions thattravel uniquely provides, including novelty, autonomy, and meaningfulintercultural contact. Implications for higher education, organisationaldevelopment, and individual well-being are discussed.
