Abstract: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of thetheoretical and methodological foundations of linguadidactics and therole of the communicative approach in modern foreign language teaching.The relationship between grammatical competence and speechcompetence is recognized as one of the important methodological issueswithin the linguadidactics approach, and the integrative nature of thesecompetencies in the process of language teaching is considered animportant factor in the formation of effective speech activity. In thisregard, the study highlights the advantages of the communicativeapproach over traditional methods on the basis of a comparative analysis.
