Annotatsiya
This scientific article comprehensively analyzes the historical roots of the mahalla system and ancient traditions of self-government in Uzbekistan. The study examines the historical evolution of the mahalla institution in the Central Asian region, the stages of its development from ancient urban culture to the present day, as well as the unique place that this system occupies in Uzbek society. The article highlights the traditional governance mechanisms of the mahalla, their re-formation in modern conditions, and their importance as the main pillar of civil society.
