Annotatsiya
This study is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of translation as an act ofintercultural communication, located at the intersection of linguistics and cultural studies. It is determined that the success of translation depends not only on achieving linguisticequivalence but also on pragmatic adequacy, which requires consideration of the cultural norms andvalues of the target language audience. The paper systematizes the main interculturalbarriers (conceptual, pragmatic, and discursive) and proposes an integrative modelof translation. The role of the translator as a cultural mediator is substantiated and a typology of culturally determined transformations (explication, functionalsubstitution) is developed, the use of which helps minimize communicative losses. The resultsof the study contribute to the development of theoretical translation studies and have practicalsignificance for enhancing the intercultural competence of translators.
