Annotatsiya
The 1916 peasant uprising in Namangan is one of the significant events in the Uzbek people’s struggle against colonialism. This rebellion, aimed at opposing the decision of the Russian Empire to mobilize the labor force of Turkestan for forced labor, was widely supported by the population of Namangan city. The article examines the causes of the uprising, its development, the anti-imperialist struggle of the rebels, as well as the response of the tsarist government and the people’s desire for national liberation. The Namangan uprising holds an important place in history as part of the broader fight against poverty and colonialism, which affected not only Turkestan but also the entire Russian Empire.
